Outdoor Adventuring Part 1

We went to Arizona to take Jeff to a soccer camp, so we made a mini vacation out of it. We stayed in a yurt, hiked part of the Grand Canyon in 120° heat, went to Horseshoe Bend, walked through Antelope Canyon, and boogie boarded at the Sand Dunes.

I’m blown away by this place every time I come back. Being in it is completely different from just looking at it. The walls are massive, and I think it is safe to say we all felt tiny in comparison. Next time I’m at the Grand Canyon, I want to hike the whole thing.

Antelope Canyon is one of the coolest places I’ve ever been. It is on Navajo land near Page, Arizona and you have to go in with a tour guide. It’s a pretty amazing landform and it’s total screensaver material.

Sydney, my best friend since we were ten, came to visit from Nebraska and came with us on all of the above adventures and more! She stayed for a week and a half and we had the best time. We always do. She is able to put up with our family for extended periods of time, which isn’t always easy, so I know that we will be friends forever. I still remember when we were ten and would walk to each others houses daily, watch Mama Mia at our weekly sleepovers, and make a mess from doing an art project every time we were together (actually, we still do this…). I would post a picture of us together when we were 10, because Lord knows we have plenty, but I think we would both agree that some things are better left unseen.

This is a lovely GoPro picture of Sydney and me, featuring our yurt and hammock.

When we got home, Kira and Sydney took me to the driving range for the first time ever. Let’s just say that I struggle with patience and hand-eye coordination… But I will say that I think there is potential for me to like it if I improve. A lot. In the future, I need to practice in a place where there are zero people (sorry to everyone at PC golf course who had to watch me learn to golf), and where no one can take videos of me trying to swing a golf club (@Kira).

Golf attire 10/10. Golf skills 0/10. I did not think it was this funny when I was actually trying to swing at a golf ball. Kira and Sydney did though.

There will be a second part to this post sometime in the near future. “Near future” is all relative, but it will definitely be soon! There were just too many things to put them all in one post.
